James "JD" Singley, age 87 years, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. He was born in Truman, Arkansas, on Wednesday, July 7, 1937, to John and Oma (Cole) Singley.
He attended Nettleton High School in Nettleton, Arkansas. He went on to attend college at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. JD left college to join the United State Air Force in 1955.
After his time in the Air Force JD went to work manufacturing shoes and boots for US Shoe, Jumping Jacks and Justin Boots.
JD married the love of his life Betty Jean (Gray) in 1961. To this union were born three children: David, Lisa, and Brent.
His parents, John and Oma and brother Walter preceded him in death.
JD is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, David Singley of Springfield and Brent Singley of Springfield; daughter Lisa Conyes of Springfield; four grandsons Cody (Allison) Singley, Caleb Singley, Kyle Singley, and Seth Conyers, all of Springfield; and great-grandson, Nolan Singley.
His greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons and family. He loved attending their sporting and school events. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching sports on television.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Singley family home.
Warriors' Watch Riders will render a final salute at 2:15 PM, Monday, October 21, 2024, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, 2001 W. Walnut Lawn St., in Springfield. After which, Warriors' Watch Riders will escort the procession to Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road, in Springfield, Missouri, where JD will receive full military honors at 3:00 PM.
