James Sinon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home - Poughkeepsie on Jun. 26, 2024.
James "Jimmy" William Sinon, was born on August 22, 1961, to Stewart and Joan Decker Sinon,
died on June 21, 2024, in Poughkeepsie NY. He was a lifelong resident of Dutchess County; the
lessons he learned on Sinon Farm in the 1960s and 1970s stayed with him throughout his
life. From the time he was a young man, he was an integral part of building Sinon Farm into the
company it is today. For the last three years, Jimmy lived in West Burke VT, to help his aunt and
be a caretaker for his uncle. While in VT, Jimmy started a painting business, he painted a historic
church which made the local news, and he was recently commissioned to do work for the town.
More recently Jimmy was the groundskeeper at a Country Club which was a great source of
pride for him. Jimmy had finally found a sense of purpose, peace, and some serenity in the
Northeast Kingdom.
His treasured memories as a son of Sinon Farm endured throughout. A beloved uncle, brother,
and son, he could be counted on at family parties for lively stories of his adventures-and
misadventures. He wasn't afraid of either, saying "true stories are the best stories." No matter
where he was in the course of those many adventures, he lived his love for his family out loud
and was fiercely protective of them, especially his two sisters.
Jimmy was charismatic and charming, qualities that served him well as a salesman, either with
customers for the family business or at county fairs across the country. He was a prolific writer
and recently took up acrylic painting. His poetry and paintings will continue to be a gift and a
reminder of his intensely creative spirit.
Deeply spiritual, Jimmy was open-hearted. He did not subscribe to any one denomination; he
accepted and appreciated everyones unique beliefs, was well-versed on many topics, and often
had an opinion to share with anyone at any time. He believed in "God moments" in which grace
and faith were particularly focused. His family believes that it was one of those "God moments"
when Jimmy made a recent and unexpected trip back to New York to see his mother. We are
grateful to have had those last moments of laughter, love, and hugs.
Jimmy was a long-term member of AA, he admired the founding members and loved the friends
he made among the rooms across the country. Although he wasn't a consistent member of "the
rooms" he lived by their philosophy "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot
change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference".
Jimmy is survived by his mother Joan, brother Mike and his wife Angela, sister Colleen and her
husband Ray, brother-in-law David Anduze, aunt Joyce Bernasconi, uncle Bruce and aunt
Colleen and his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his
father Stu, whom Jimmy admired and revered, as well as his beloved sister, Kathi Sinon Anduze.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home located at 371
Hooker Ave Poughkeepsie New York 12603 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will he held
July 1, 2024, at 11:00a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will take place following the service at Union Cemetery in
