James Smith Obituary
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Betty Hall Smith and the son of the late James Monroe Smith and the late Opal Taylor Smith. He worked in refrigeration with Winn-Dixie and later retired from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a member of Lamb's Chapel.
James was survived by two sons; James E. Smith, II and his wife Shawn and Rodney Taylor Smith; three grandchildren, Ashley Cobb, Brooke Grubbs and her husband Drew and Zoey Smith; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Phil Smith and her husband Allen and Donna McKenzie.
His graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
