James Lewis "Buddy" Sosbe, 83, of Cynthiana, KY, passed away on October 4, 2023, at his residence surrounded by family.
He was born in Cynthiana, KY, to the late Lou Tom and Delia H. Garnett Sosbe of Cynthiana, KY. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Josie Elizabeth Sosbe, Gladys Sosbe Fredrick (Carl); son-in-law, Jerry Hicks; and a great grandson, Little Ray Hicks, all from Cynthiana, KY.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol Courtney Sosbe; two sons, James Lewis "Jimmy" Sosbe Jr. (Shaun), Michael Tod "Mike" Sosbe (Angie); one daughter, Pamela "Nicole" Sosbe-Hicks; six grandchildren, James Michael Sosbe (Brittany Campbell), Bennett Lewis Sosbe (Madelynn Denniston), Mary-Katherine Hicks (Conner Kilpela), Bridget Rice (Dakota), Brooke Schalch (Camron), Jared Hicks; six great grandchildren, Ariana Doyle, Jackson and Dixie Sosbe, Kanaan, Kinlee and Klayton Rice, Aubrey Schalch; and a special fur baby, Ginger Dustmop Sosbe.
Many people may remember Buddy and his wife when they ran the well-known Western Auto, "the toy store at Christmas", on Pike Street in Cynthiana for 35 years. He also worked for the Grede Perm Cast for 15 years, he also served as a song leader for many years at Pleasant Green Baptist Church, where he was also a member.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Franklin, Mike Fryman, Donnie Crosswaite, Dakota Rice, Bobby Poindexter, Camron Schalch and Conner Kilpela. Honorary pallbearers are the Pleasant Green Baptist Deacons, Al Courtney, Randy Faulkner, Mark Johnston, Bobby Walters, Tina Fryman and Kathy Hammond.
Funeral services will be on Monday, October 9, 2023, 1:00 P.M. at Pleasant Green Baptist Church, 387 Pleasant Green Rd., Cynthiana, KY 41031, with visitation beginning at 11:00 A.M., the same day. Visitation will also be on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Ware Funeral Home from 2:00 P.M.- 6:00 P.M. Bro. Rob Stanley and Mark Turner will preside over services, and burial will be in Courtney Cemetery following services on Monday.
