James Lee Staton, 54, of Grayson went to be with his Lord, January 19, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. James was born January 19, 1971 in Bossier City, LA a son of James Larry Staton of Doyline, LA and the late, Juna Lea Deprang May. In addition to his mother, James was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Montie Ben and Mildred Gautney Deprang; his paternal grandparents, Russell Milton Staton and Julie McPherson Tyler; and two uncles, Russell Staton and Paul Staton. James worked for Marathon for over 19 years, having many job titles, such as machinist, machinist foreman and finally in planning. James was a huge LSU Tigers fan. James's greatest joy was watching his children play sports and cheer, and the same went for watching his grandchildren follow in their parents' footsteps. James was very active in his kids' sports, having coached YFL, Little League, T-ball and Upward. James was a true outdoorsman, and he liked to fish and go duck hunting. James was a craftsman and loved to build things, solve problems and working on vehicles, which he passed down to his children. James loved to cook for his family and friends. James had a caring personality and had a passion for helping others. In addition to his father, James Larry (Kathy) Staton; James is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Katie Henrietta Bowman Staton; his children, Conner Charlton (Emily Jo) Staton of Lexington, Kaitleigh (Travis) Staton Tussey of Grayson, and Camren Jaimes (Kaitlynn Marie) Staton of Lexington; two grandchildren, Addison Jo Staton and Emersyn James Tussey; a sister, Janeen (Michael) Staton Barmore of Haughton, LA; a brother, Jeffrey Lynn (Kimberly) Staton of Bossier City, LA; nieces and nephews, Kody Lane Barmore, Hanah Leann Barmore-Smith, Mikala Rose Barmore, Abbie Louise McMillon, Austin James McMillon, Brandon Lee Staton and Thomas Joseph Staton; and a host of great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who all mourn his passing. A celebration of life service will be 5 pm, Friday January 24, 2025 at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Bro. Curt Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be 3 pm Friday until the service hour.
