James D. Stringfield

FOUNTAIN CITY, IN.- James D. Stringfield, age 80, of Fountain City, died Sunday, November 3, 2024, at home. Born on February 25, 1944, in Wartburg, Tennessee, James grew up in Tennessee with 4 sisters and 3 brothers. The family moved to Richmond, Indiana after spending some time in France when his father was in the military. Jim and his wife, Saundra moved to Fountain City in 1972 where they both remained for the rest of their lives. In his later retirement, Jim often liked to "do his rounds" each day which included driving the back roads of Fountain City to get to his errands, and visiting his favorite sister- in-law, Jerri Mays of Richmond. Jim was a beloved father, grandfather, and husband. While he was often very quiet and reserved, he had a great sense of humor. He loved his family and was always a stable and foundational presence in their lives. Jim leaves behind 3 children; Jamie, Tonya, and Rick. 4 grandchildren; Jara, Brianna, Elizabeth, and Parker, and 2 great grandchildren: Kaiden and Jaila. He is preceded in death by his wife, Saundra, who passed away in 2015 and his son, David Stringfield, who passed away in 2017. There will be a private service at a later date.
