James Edward Sullivan,83, passed away peacefully at his home in St. Augustine, FL on March 2, 2025.
Born on July 22,1941, to William and Leona Sullivan of Terre Haute, IN. Jim graduated from Riley High School then joined the United States Air Force in 1960 where he served 4 years. After his military service Jim moved back to Terre Haute where he attended Indiana State University. His career path led him to Eli Lilly where he retired after 33 years of employment in Environmental Controls. Jim also raised horses on his farm and obtained his Farriers Certificate in 1973. Jim was widowed but had been married for 41 years to his wife Mary Sullivan. They moved to Indianapolis, IN where they shared the love of music and theatre. He was a member of the Greater Indianapolis Chapter of Barbershop and named Barber shopper of the year in 2002 and given the nickname " Mr. Showman". Jim's retirement years brought him to St. Augustine, FL. In St. Augustine he volunteered at Fort Matanzas and was presented with Volunteer of the year awards for several years in a row. He loved to travel and was proud that he had visited 46 out of the 50 states.
He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes to anyone he met. Most co-workers and close friends called him "Sully", and everyone enjoyed listening to one of his many stories.
Jim leaves behind his siblings, Marilyn Clark and Bill (Lana) Sullivan, both of Columbus, IN. His daughters, Melissa (Dan) Phillips, West Terre Haute, IN and Crystle (Ken) Higa, St. Augustine, FL, as well as his stepsons, Wade Cox, Terre Haute, IN and Justin Cox, Columbus, OH.
