James & Thelma Rohrer Obituary

James (Jim) Lewis Rohrer, age 92, passed away on January 10, 2023. His beloved wife, Thelma May Rohrer, age 95, followed him in passing on August 12, 2025.

Jim was born on October 17, 1931, in Evanston, Illinois, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Thelma was born on April 2, 1930, in Plainwell, Michigan. Together, they built a life rooted in love and family. Since 1980, they made their home in Inman, South Carolina, where they shared many years of joy with family and friends.

Jim and Thelma were predeceased by their cherished son, Fredrick Ashley Rohrer. They are survived by their daughter, Sandra Lee Purdin, and their son, Dr. William (Bill) Bradley (Sara). Their legacy also lives on through their seven grandchildren—Kenneth Purdin (Judy), Carly Sabins (Ben), Cassandra Landry, Laura Lucas (Danon), Brock Rohrer (Tacha), Steven Bradley (Jennifer), and Eric Bradley (Connie) and seventeen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought them tremendous pride and joy.

Jim and Thelma will be laid to rest together on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell, Michigan. Their great-grandson, Brock Rohrer, will lead the graveside service. Following the interment, family and friends are welcome to join for a casual reception, with additional details shared at the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim and Thelma’s memory to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund https://curealz.org/?campaign=666449, as a way to honor their lives of love and service.
