Grand Rapids Cremation Services - Grand RapidsMargaret McGarey, fondly known as Maggie, passed away peacefully in her home on October 1, 2025, in Plainwell, Michigan. Born on July 18, 1949, in Detroit Michigan, she was a beloved figure in the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family.
Maggie was a successful business owner of M.A. McCall & Associates, where she dedicated many years to her career in the public insurance business. Her commitment to her profession was evident through her accomplishments as a licensed public insurance adjuster. After a long and fulfilling career, she enjoyed her well-deserved retirement, reflecting on the many lives she positively impacted through her work.
Maggie was not only a professional but also a loyal friend and faithful wife to the beloved Thomas (Thom) McGarey. Her warm personality touched the hearts of those who knew her. She embraced her roles as a proud grandmother and great-grandmother with immense joy, constantly nurturing the family bonds that were so important to her. She is remembered for her love of photography, woodworking, and golf, hobbies that brought her and her family together in shared experiences.
Maggie is survived by her four daughters: Kelly Peetz (Ken), Tracy Trezil (Dan), Karen Keehl (Russell), and Shannon Cantwell (K.C.), along with her beloved grandchildren: Deaven, Sydney, Tyler, Lucas, Samantha, Jacob, Ashley, Sarah, Lauren, Jonathon, Alex, Abbigail, and Courtney. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren: Amaya, Zariah, Brielle, Kennedy, Cali, Myles, Joseph, and Sophie, along with her loving sister, Linda Smith (Rhodes).
Maggie is preceded in death by her parents, Susan E. Rhodes (Pipesh) and Alford C. Rhodes, as well as her sister, Ruth Elizabeth Rhodes-Ferguson. Her memories will forever be cherished by her family and friends, who will carry her spirit with them in their hearts.
There will be a short service held at Fort Custer located at 15501 W. Dickman Rd., Augusta MI 49012 on October 24, 2025 at 1:30 P.M. Immediately following will be a luncheon at the VFW Hall on 13549 W, M-96, Augusta, MI 49012.
