James Francis Toepp

James Francis Toepp, 21, passed away on January 30, 2024 while serving on active duty in the United States Navy. James was born September 20, 2002 to Philip Toepp of South Bend, In and Robin Quint (Beggs) of Niles, Mi. James graduated from Clay High School in 2021. James had a love of science – everything from chemistry to astrophysics. He briefly attended Sullivan University in Louisville, Ky studying culinary science. James loved learning to cook, making up his own recipes, one of which earned him a partial scholarship. James enjoyed the outdoors: kayaking, fishing and gardening. James had a fun and unique personality. In September 2023, James enlisted in the United States Navy pursuing nuclear engineering. He graduated basic training as an E3 Navy Fireman. Preceding him in death was his grandfather, Robert Joseph Beggs. Survivors include his father, Philip Toepp; his mother and stepfather Robin and Michael Quint; two brothers, Brian and Peter Toepp; Grandmother, Katharine Beggs; Grandparents Dr. Frank and Rosemary Toepp; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Pinhook Park Community Center, 2801 Riverside Dr., South Bend, In 46616.
