James H. Turner Sr.

James H. Turner Sr. 84 of Modesto, passed away Sunday November 30, 2025 at his home. He was born July 31, 1941 in Waverly the son of late Leo T. and Helen M. Johnson Turner. He married Carla Jeanne Hays November 28, 1969 in Modesto. James was a 1960 graduate of Northwestern High School. He was a life-long farmer, had his own woodworking and furniture business and raised Polled Herefords. He was a member of the Illinois Valley Polled Hereford Association serving as President for many years. He was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church, enjoyed gardening and cooking and being on the farm.
Surviving is his wife at home, a son James Turner Jr. (Bobbie) of Florida, daughter Lori Turner of Morton, sister Judy Matthews of Jacksonville and nephew Joel Hays (Kelly) of Modesto. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday December 8, 2025 at the Stults-Neece Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. Visitation will be from 1 until the time of the service at the chapel. Private interment will be held at a later date.
