Minnie Abbott King, 93, of Palmyra passed away Monday, May 26, 2025 at her home.
She was born January 10, 1932 in Troy, TN the daughter of Herman and Evelyn Cherry Simpson.
She married Clarence Abbott July 1, 1950 and he preceded her in death on October 26, 1987.
Surviving are her children; Lee Abbott (Mary) of Chesterfield, Janet Bryant (Leland) of Paragould, AR, Butch Abbott (Bonnie) of Melbourne, FL, Henry Abbott of Lake Egypt, Jay Abbott of Palmyra, IL., Cathy Stockman of Mississippi, Tom Abbott of Palmyra, Il., Barb Rodriguez (Rudy) of Palmyra, Jerry Abbott of North Carolina, Patsy Bridges (Paul) of Doniphan, MO, and Jimmy Abbott (Rita) Forest City, AR; thirty-one grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; five sisters; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Kenny Abbott; a daughter Sara Abbott; and two sisters.
Minnie worked for J and L Plastic as well as many other plastic companies around the United States. She helped farm with her husband for many years before his passing and enjoyed vegetable gardening and buying produce in St. Louis and selling produce in the Chesterfield, IL. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Girard. Minnie was also a past member of the Chesterfield Ladies Auxiliary. She especially loved to quilt, making several for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra. The family will meet friends from 1:00-2:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
