James W Vanatta, 65, died Wednesday, July 26, 2023. He was born March 5, 1958 in Wichita, Kansas to Bennie and Fern (Shafter) Vanatta. On December 29, 1985 he married Janis (Cable) Vanatta in Wichita, Kansas.
James grew up in Wichita, KS. He attended Military school in Ponca City, OK and Salina, KS. He attended Wichita East High School and received his GED in 1975.
James was very active in the local (Wichita) music scene in the late 70s, 80s & 90s. He played bass guitar in several area bands. Jim also enjoyed riding Harley Davidsons and had several motorcycles over the years. He was a big fan of vintage cars and hot rods.
Jim will be remembered as an idea man. He always had some idea about a business or invention. Or a way to remodel a house or paint a car!
He is survived by his wife, Janis Vanatta; children: Michael (Heather) Vanatta, and Katrina Vanatta (Miguel Raymundo), grandchildren Liliana, Thomas, & Emiliano Raymundo. He also has a daughter Mindy Vanatta of Missouri.
James is preceded in death by his parents and brother Dennis Vanatta.
There will be no service at this time.
