James Waddell Obituary

James formerly owned and operated Waddell's Machine and Fabrication Shop in Pankeyville. He formerly worked as a welder for Peabody Eagle # 2 Coal Mine.
James was a member and deacon at Pankeyville Baptist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War.
James was born January 14, 1938 in Harrisburg, Illinois to Henry James and Fern Lena (James) Waddell.
James was united in marriage with Barbara Ann Smothers on January 11, 1956 in Harrisburg, IL. She preceded him in death on September 4, 2011.
Surviving are three sons, Jeffrey C. (Janice K.) Waddell of Athens, AL; James Keith (Ana Hacking) Waddell of Clayton, AL; Rick W. (Terri) Waddell of Metropolis, IL; Seven Grandchildren, Jeffrey C. "J.C." Waddell II of Herrin, IL; Jera (Nate) Muder of Bloomington, IL; Adam (Karen) Waddell of Gates, NC; Samantha Jo Waddell of Ozark, IL; Dana (Danny) Hooven of Harrisburg, IL; Sarah (Matthew) Orellana of Marion, IL; Michael Woodworth of Anna, IL; Nine Great Grandchildren, Haile Rea Waddell, Cameron Paul (Selena) Waddell, Connor William Muder, Owen James Muder, Michaela Waddell, Rachael Paige (Jeffrey) Frailey, Cort Evan Hooven, Wilder Orellana and Lennox Orellana; three great-great grandchildren, Freyja Elizabeth Waddell, Parker Frailey and Piper Frailey; two sisters, Dorothy A. Buchanan of Harrisburg, Mary L. Cantrell of Vandalia; several nieces and nephews and his life-long best friend, Darrell Mattingly of Harrisburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son in infancy, Michael Waddell parents; daughter-in-law, Alisa Karen Waddell; sister Helen Puckett, brother, John D. Waddell and two brothers-in-law, Charles Buchanan and Larry Cantrell.
Graveside services and Military rites will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg, IL with pastor, Ernie Fowler officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Pankeyville Baptist Church, 935 Highway 145 South, Harrisburg, IL 62946.
