James M. Wallace, age 77, Marine Corps Veteran, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Virginia Wallace nee Rolf; his loving daughter Rebecca (Ryan) McKeon; his cherished granddaughters Emma and Riley McKeon, and his dear siblings George (Char) Wallace, Dennis (Lori) Wallace, and Nancy Roberts. He was a dear uncle, cousin, and friend of many who will miss him deeply.
James was born in Minneapolis, MN, in 1948 as the second of an eventual six children. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1967 and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. While overseas, he began a pen pal friendship with the woman who would become his wife. He returned home to Minnesota after being honorably discharged and reconnected with Virginia. They were married in 1971.
After completing his military service, James attended the Minnesota School of Business and earned a degree in Accounting. Several years later, he and Virginia, along with their daughter, Rebecca, moved to Illinois, which was their home for the remainder of his life.
James especially loved trips to the zoo and spoiling his two granddaughters. Family meant everything to him, and he kept his good humor and easy-go-lucky attitude to the end.
He is preceded in passing by his proud parents James and Dorothy Wallace; his brother Ronald (survived by Lisa); and his sister Linda Wallace.
1475 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031
