Obituary for James Karlyle "Karl" Weger
October 6, 1959 – November 20, 2024
James Karlyle Weger, lovingly known as Karl, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 65. Born October 6, 1959, in Buffalo, New York, to James Harding Weger and Martina Joyce Woodworth-Weger, Karl's journey through life was one of love, dedication, and honor. Though he began his life in Buffalo, Karl was raised in Weatherford, Texas-a place he proudly called home, often remarking that he "got to Texas as soon as he could."
Karl grew up in a lively household as one of six siblings. The bond he shared with his brothers and sisters was unbreakable, a cornerstone of his life that brought him immense joy and comfort. Baptized as a young adult, Karl's faith was an integral part of his life, shaping the man he became.
A proud graduate of Weatherford High School, Karl furthered his education at Tarrant County Junior College, where he earned his Master Technician Certification. A true "mechanic's mechanic," Karl possessed an unmatched intellect and expertise in his craft. His encyclopedic knowledge of vehicles and machines earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and friends alike.
Karl's life took a beautiful turn on New Year's Eve 1996, when he met the love of his life, Robin, at a party hosted by his best friend, Daniel. Although the meeting was orchestrated as a blind date, fate had other plans. When Robin found herself needing rescue from another guest's unwelcome advances, Karl stepped in-a gallant moment that marked the beginning of a lifelong bond. That night, Karl taught Robin how to play dominoes, and they spent hours laughing and building a connection that would only grow stronger with time. From that evening forward, they were inseparable.
Karl and Robin were married in August 2014, and together they built a life of love, laughter, and adventure. Karl raised his son in this home annd lovingly embraced Robin's sons as his own, guiding them with a firm but compassionate hand. As much as he loved his sons, Karl's heart overflowed for his two granddaughters, Nataleigh and Maddi, who brought boundless joy to his life.
Karl was a man of many passions and talents. A master cook, he delighted in preparing meals for his family, especially on Thanksgiving-a holiday he cherished. He cooked dinner nightly, a simple yet profound act of love for those he held dear. Beyond the kitchen, Karl was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, cheering passionately for his team no matter the season.
But perhaps Karl's greatest love, besides his family, was travel. He and Robin shared a passion for cruising, embarking on adventures to destinations far and wide. He was always planning their next voyage, dreaming of the endless possibilities the world had to offer.
Karl's life was defined by his integrity, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to doing what was right. He instilled these values in his family, teaching them to walk through life with honor and purpose.
Karl is survived by his beloved wife, Robin Weger; his sons, James Kyle Weger, Matthew Paul Stinson and wife Dani, Thomas Joel Stinson, and Dalton Wayne Moore; and his cherished granddaughters, Nataleigh and Maddi Stinson. He is also survived by his siblings, Nancy Mueller and her husband Steve, Martin Weger, his twin sister Katie Weger, John Weger, J.K. Weger and his wife Jennifer, and Joel Weger. Additionally, he leaves behind his father-in-law, Buddy Myers, along with a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents, James Harding Weger and Martina Joyce Woodworth-Weger.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a chapel service at 10:00 a.m. at the Azle Funeral Chapel on the grounds of Azleland cemetery. A committal service will take place at Azleland Cemetery.
Karl's legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. While his presence will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the lessons he imparted will remain a guiding light for those he leaves behind.
