James Allen Weis, 93, of Titusville passed away peacefully in the early morning of Friday, February 13, 2026. Jim was born February 12, 1933 in Broughton, PA and was the second son of the late George R and Marion Work Weis. He was a graduate of Carrick High School, class of 1950. Following High School he Enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh but was drafted and served in the US Army Signal Corp 513/202 MIB at Fort Monmouth, NJ. He was assigned briefly at Fort Myer and The Pentagon before being deployed to Asmara, Eritrea and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (then still one Country) in East Africa during the Korean War Period. Jim was honorably discharged in 1955 and worked briefly for Bell Telephone/AT&T.
James married Phyllis M Dodd in Pittsburgh, PA on September 3, 1955. They began a family and Jim resumed College. Jim attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy graduating in the Class of 1960 and began Graduate studies. Phyllis passed away in February 1961. They had three small children.
James married Loretta Jane Brothers on May 31, 1961, in Winchester, VA, and they moved to Titusville later that year. Loretta adopted Jim's three children and they had a fourth child together. Loretta passed away in March 2022.
Jim worked as a Registered Pharmacist for over 50 years. He worked for the Upjohn company and later McAndrew Drug Store in Titusville. Jim transitioned to Hospital Pharmacy developing and implementing Unit dose drug distribution systems at Union City and Corry Hospitals with guidance from Sister Agatha (Sister Marjorie Adams) from Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA. Jim also worked for Morse Rexall Drug store in Union City before building his own store, a true family effort, Jim's Drug Store in Union City. After a fire destroyed Jim's Drug Store in 1979 Jim worked at Titusville Hospital and later for several chain companies. Jim finished his Pharmacy career as a consultant for Pine Grove Surgery Center in
Russell, PA. While a Pharmacist Jim left a legacy of professional and dedicated service. Jim and Loretta hosted and were Preceptor to a number of pharmacy students to help prepare new generations of Pharmacists. Jim conducted Drug Abuse Prevention programs at both Union City and Titusville High Schools, served on the Venango County Comprehensive Health Planning Committee and Erie County Pharmaceutical Association.
Comfort ye, comfort ye My people saith your God. (Isaiah 40) Anyone who knew Jim, knew he was a accomplished Tenor singer! Jim sang all the time. He loved singing in Church and in the community. During college Jim was a member of the Pitt Men's Glee Club and sang professionally at several churches throughout the Pittsburgh area. While serving in the US Army, Jim sought out others and encouraged them to sing whenever possible. After moving to Titusville Jim sang as a member at the First Presbyterian Church, the First United Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church in Titusville for many years. He was a member of the Venango Choral Society and Franklin Civic Operetta and the Chatauqua Institution. Jim was the featured Tenor for many programs both Sacred and secular. Jim sang the Tenor Recitative in Handel's Messiah, also in the choir for Messiah and Elijah and JS Bach's Mass and many other sacred music productions. Jim performed the lead in productions like The Mikado, HMS Pinafore, Show Boat, Little Mary Sunshine for Franklin Civic Operetta and was the King in The King and I for Titusville Summer Theater. Jim was frequently asked to sing for people's weddings, often with accompaniment but also solo. James was singing whenever he felt able even on his Birthday hours before his passing.
James A Weis is a devoted Christian and loved Our Lord Jesus. He often read or recited verses from the Bible, Isaiah 35 and John 14 old and new were his favorites.
Jim was involved in adult leadership for the Boy Scouts of America. He served as scoutmaster, was inducted into the Order of the Arrow. He also served as Tre Foil Leadership Development Chair, district commissioner and planned and conducted district First Aid Training programs and numerous "camporees", and "Show-And-Do" He attended Wood Badge, was awarded the Silver Beaver in French Creek Council and was honored with the "James E West National Fellowship" award.
Jim was a talented woodworker and carver. He loved wood working and carving, especially Ducks and Game Birds. He exhibited at the Ward Foundation.
James was also a voracious reader and devoured Mystery and Crime and Spy novels by the hundreds.
In addition to his beloved wife Loretta, James was preceded in death by his parents and older brother George F Weis in 2002 and a grandson Jesse Daniel Weis in 2022.
James is survived by his four children: Aimee Weis-Russo and husband Mike of Hidden Valley Lake, CA, Timothy Weis of
Titusville, PA, Emilee Langer and husband Mike of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Andrew Weis of
Titusville, PA Three grandchildren: Tera Lynn Ellsworth and Partner Joshua Lyon of Santa Rosa, CA, Alex Langer and partner Kimmen LeBeau of Denver, CO, and Samuel Langer of Myrtle Beach, SC Three great-grandchildren: Elijah and Ethan Lyon of Santa Rosa, CA, and Rowan Langer of Denver, CO.
In addition to immediate family James is also survived by a Cousin Eleanor Blahnik, 93 of Gibsonia, PA and spoke with her on his birthday, a Brother in law Samuel Brothers of Fairview, PA and a Sister in law Laura Brothers (George) of Chicora, PA as well as many Nieces Nephews and younger cousins.
There will be no public services and a private memorial is planned for the family at a later date.

Loretta Weis Obituary
Loretta B Weis, 83, of Titusville passed away Sunday, March 06, 2022. Loretta Jane Brothers was born August 12, 1938 in Parkers Landing, PA, and was the only daughter and eldest of five children to the late Samuel W. and Mildred Yeager Brothers. She was a graduate of Karns City High School, class of 1956. A trailblazer for women in Pharmacy, Loretta went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh - School of Pharmacy in 1960; one of two women in her graduating class. Loretta married James A Weis on May 31, 1961 in Winchester, VA, and they moved to
Titusville, PA later that year.
Loretta is survived by her husband of 60 years - James A Weis of
Titusville, PA and four children: Aimee Weis Russo and husband Mike of Hidden Valley Lake, CA, Timothy Weis of
Titusville, PA, Emilee Langer and husband Mike of Parker, CO, and Andrew Weis of Dallas, TX., and four grandchildren - Tera Lynn Ellsworth and partner Joshua Lyon of Santa Rosa, CA, Jesse Weis of Santa Rosa CA, Alex Langer of Centennial, CO, and Sam Langer of Parker, CO, and one great grandson - Elijah Lyon of Santa Rosa, CA.
In addition to her immediate family, Loretta is also survived by three brothers: Samuel Brothers of Petrolia, PA, George Brothers and wife Laura of Chicora, PA, Robert Brothers and wife Sherry of Fairview PA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Mildred, and a brother, Richard Brothers.
Loretta worked as a retail pharmacist in Titusville for more than 50 years and was a role model and mentor to all who worked with her over the years. She believed in paying it forward and was humble and selfless in her care of people in the community. Most of all, Loretta loved her beautiful home and spending time with family. She will be greatly missed by all.
