James V. Werkheiser, 86, of Effort, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Lehigh Valley Hospice House - Monroe County. He was the beloved husband of the late Carrie Ann L. "Penny" Werkheiser to whom he was married to for 62 years before her passing in 2020. Born in Bushkill Township, James was a son of the late Lester and Dorothy Werkheiser (Fehr).

James was a skilled mason by trade, proudly lending his craftsmanship to numerous businesses throughout the region. He was known for his generous spirit and his ability to find joy in simple pleasures. He found great satisfaction in mowing his grass and creating a welcoming yard. An avid hunter, James cherished his time outdoors, particularly in the company of wildlife, from feeding the bears to enjoying the thrill of Indy car racing, a passion that led him to attend the Indianapolis 500 on several occasions. His love for Busch Beer was a testament to his easygoing nature and his enjoyment of life's small indulgences.

He will be dearly missed by his daughter: Kim Brendahl (George) of Nazareth; three sons: Kevin Werkheiser of Gilbert, James Werkheiser of Nazareth and Jeffrey Werkheiser of Effort; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister: Jeanette Ahearn (Richard) of Medford, OR; brothers: Jan Werkheiser and Jay Werkheiser (Harriette) both of Nazareth. In addition to his spouse, he was predeceased by brother: Gene Werkheiser and daughter-in-law: Laura (Darlington) Werkheiser.

Graveside Services will be held privately at Greenwood Cemetery - Nazareth. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at: bensingfuneralhome.net. Arrangements and cremation care are under the direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, INC. Moorestown - Bath.
