Lakeside, Texas — James Dolan West, 78, of Lakeside, passed away peacefully at his home on February 15, 2026.

Born James Dolan Mack on July 25, 1947, in Marion, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Ruby and Quinton Mack. Known to family and friends as “Jimmy,” he attended Lake Worth High School and pursued a long and varied career that reflected his commitment to public service and his eye for detail.

Jimmy retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years of dependable work. He later served the City of Fort Worth as a home inspector before founding his own business, North Texas Inspection Services, where he helped countless homeowners and builders with trusted home inspections.

A lifelong music lover, Jimmy sang and played guitar and recorded many albums. His favorite music was classic country and gospel, and he delighted in sharing songs with family and friends. He took great pride in his grandchildren and enjoyed simple pleasures — bowling, collecting classic cars and spending time at Winstar with his beloved wife, Charlotte, enjoying the slot machines side by side. He was known for his steady presence, dry wit and warm hospitality; friends and family remember him for his loyalty, kindness and the quiet way he made others feel welcome.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlotte West; and his sister, Judy Rhom. Jimmy is survived by his five children: daughter, Glynna Yowell; Kelly Ruhmann; Allen Mack; Shain Burgess; and Michael Burgess. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chris Yowell, Lauren Cheak, Kelsie Russell, Charla Ford, Missy Ruhmann, Kelsi Reason, Jerin Mack, Riley Aboudail, Amber Sagadin, Nolan Burgess and Nathan Allen. He leaves three brothers, Ray Mull, Ricky Mack and Randy Mack; and four sisters, Jean Divideaux, Carolyn Dooly, Joan Cornelius and Terry Sims. He also cherished his beloved niece, Brenda Davis — whom he and Charlotte loved like a daughter — and her children, Dolan Davis and Charla Davis, along with a wide circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Jimmy will also be greatly missed by his four beloved dogs, Taz, Jaz, Candy and Sheena.

Friends are invited to Visitation at 9:00 a.m. and a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Thompson Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd., Fort Worth.  Interment will follow at 12:00 p.m. in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, Colleyville.
