Lewisville – James “Shane” Whitaker, 53, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026. He was born August 23, 1972 in Forsyth County. Shane was fun loving, outgoing and always enjoyed an afternoon on the golf course, he graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and loved watching the “Tarheels” play any type of sport. He worked for N.C. Farm Bureau as an insurance agent for 31 years. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Camey Whitaker; son, Tristan Whitaker; brother, Keith (Natalie) Whitaker; nephew, Chase Whitaker; niece, Ava Whitaker; and several other family members. His funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, January 11, 2026 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Andy Lambert and the Rev. Chris Byrne. Burial will follow at Center Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Memorials can be made to Center Global Methodist Church, 1400 Center Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Whitaker family.
