James W. Wilson, 83 of Ithaca, NY passed away Friday, May 2, 2025 at home with family by his side.
Born April 6, 1942 in Ithaca, NY he was predeceased by his foster mother, Gertrude H. Chilson in 1999 and by sisters and brother. Jim was a member of the Varna Methodist Church and Groton Assembly of God Church, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #666 where he holds the Pilgrim degree. It is the highest degree that may be obtained, and at the time he was the second youngest to ever obtain it. He is also very proud to be a more than 50 year life member of #7’s Fire Company of the Ithaca Fire Department.
His wife, Katherine L. Wilson passed away in 2008. He is survived by four children, Sherrie L. Falardeau (Jacquelin) of Ottawa, Canada; Roger L. Vallely (Lavinia) of Wasilla, Alaska; Jennifer M. Russell (Lonnie Barber) of Burdett, NY; and AmyJo M. Wilson of Ithaca, NY; nine grandsons and five granddaughters; many great grandchildren; sisters; several nieces, nephews and many friends in the Varna Community.
Funeral services will be held at 12 pm Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY with Pastor Sam Neno officiating. Friends may call from 11 am until the service time of 12 noon. Private burial will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Flowers are graciously declined. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Groton Assembly of God Church, 701 S. Main St., Groton, NY 13073 or the Varna Methodist Church, 965 Dryden Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
