James Alan Wilson

James Alan Wilson Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and master of his craft, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Mishawaka, IN, following a life richly lived. Born on April 20, 1956, in South Bend, IN, James's journey was one marked by devotion to his family, passion for his work, and an ever-present spirit of adventure.
James's life was a testament to the power of love and perseverance. He shared over 43 beautiful years with his beloved wife, Rhonda (Hill) Wilson, they united in marriage on July 1, 2009, in South Bend, IN. Together, they built a foundation of love that extended to every corner of their family. James's legacy as a loving son to his late parents, Joseph and Virgina (Hodgson) Wilson, continued as he became a guiding light to his children: Angie (Jennifer) Wilson, Stephanie (Jake) Keller, James (Cassandra) Wilson Jr., and Joseph (Samantha) Wilson. His stepsons, Brandon Meek and Jason (Laura) Meek, will remember him as a steadfast presence in their lives. His fourteen loving grandchildren will carry James's memory in their hearts as a symbol of joy and family unity. He is also survived by his siblings Barbara (Bob) Gregory, Cecil (Pam) Wilson, and Timothy (Paula) Wilson
A talented mechanic and auto body technician, James dedicated many years to honing his skills and sharing his knowledge with others. His hands, always willing to work on a problematic engine or smooth out the body of a cherished car, were a source of endless stories and successes. The roar of engines at the drag races was music to his ears, and his heart raced along with every vehicle he witnessed forging its path down the strip.
Above all, James treasured the moments he spent with his grandkids and family. Each laugh, every shared meal, and all the stories told will be cherished by those who knew him. His profound love for his family was rivaled only by the enthusiasm with which he approached his lifelong hobby of building engines and the subsequent legacy of craftsmanship he leaves behind.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.. A memorial service will immediately follow starting at 12 p.m. All being held at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka, IN 46545.
