Benson, NC: Mr. James Woodrow “Tank” Stewart, age 56, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC after a brief illness. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM- Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Revs. Edwin Norris and Kim Strickland will officiate. Burial will follow in Red Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, Coats, NC.
Tank was born on February 17, 1967 in Harnett County, NC to Betty Norris Stewart of Benson, NC and the late Woodrow “Roc” Stewart. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Roxanne Stewart Stanley and his grandparents, Larkin and Bertha Caudle Norris and George T. and Mable Avery Stewart. Tank worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He loved his mule, Jack, and loved to hunt.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Norris Stewart; brother, Allan Stewart; nephews, Tanner Stewart, and Jakson Stewart; brother-in-law, Shelton Stanley; nephews, Johnathan Stanley and wife, April, Eric Stanley and wife, Brittany; great nieces, Moriah Willard, Chesney Stanley, and Anna Roxanne Stanley; special family, Chris Ellis and family; special friend and hunter, D.T. Ivey.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Friday, September 1, 2023 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC, and other times at the home.
