James C. “Jim” Zenz, age 78, of Bloomington, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at his home. He was born on May 24, 1945, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Ambrose and Irene (Hileman) Zenz. Jim graduated from Potosi High School in 1963. He furthered his education at a vocational school in Madison. Jim was employed with John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works for 36 years. In 1990, he purchased a farm in South Lancaster Township and farmed for many years. On June 25, 2005, Jim married Genelda Lau Cooley in Lancaster. He was an avid outdoorsman and a member of Wings Over Wisconsin. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Canada and dearly loved spending time with his family and his beloved pets.
Survivors include his loving wife, Genelda; his stepchildren: Matt (Courtney) Cooley, Rick (JoAnn) Cooley, Jen (Jarrod) Barker; step-grandchildren: Sydney and Keegan Cooley and Emma and Corbin Barker; his siblings: Ken (Joyce) Zenz, Ann Zenz Britt, and Joe (Mary) Zenz; a sister-in-law, Barb Zenz; brother-in-law, Don (Kat) Lau; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Zenz; brothers-in-law, Denny (Dixie) Lau and Gerald Lau.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
