In Loving Memory of James (Jimmy) Zulla Jr.

Surrounded by the embrace of family and the warmth of love, James Zulla Jr passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025 at the age of 84.

James was a devoted husband to Laurel Zulla, with whom he shared 30 years of deep companionship and mutual support. Together, they built a life rich in love, affection and laughter.

As a loving father, James's love knew no bounds. He was a guiding light to his daughters, Marcy Zulla Dwyer and Stephanie Zulla Laug, nurturing them with love and compassion. The lessons he imparted, both spoken and unspoken, continue to echo in their lives and in the lives of his beloved grandchildren: Ryan Dwyer, Samantha Laug, and their spouses Mark Dwyer and Brian Laug.

James's family circle grew to include his loving step-daughters, Lindsay Sergeant and Kari Rosselli. He welcomed Lindsay's husband Chris, and Kari's husband Rafal, as well as granddaughters Lauren and Madelyn, with the same warmth and acceptance that defined all his relationships. To each, he was a constant source of encouragement and humor.

James, born in Croton-on-Hudson, to James and Catherine Zulla was known by many nicknames, Jimmy, Junior, Bosco, and Zuke. He grew up crabbing in the Hudson and was recognized for his athleticism, especially in baseball and golf. Later in life he spent time in Fl and became a certified PGA Teaching Golf Pro. He enjoyed all types of food especially Seafood, Cooking, and Gardening.

Though James has departed this life, the mark he left upon the hearts of his family and friends endures. His memory will be cherished in stories told around the table, in the quiet guidance that continues to inspire, and in the love that binds his family together.

May his spirit find eternal peace and may all those who mourn his passing find comfort in the enduring legacy of love, gentleness, and strength that James Zulla Jr. leaves behind.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept 2 at McHoul Funeral Home inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, from 4-7 PM. A Mass will be held at Holy Name of Mary Church in Croton-on-Hudson on October 25th at 10 AM.
