WAPPINGER - Captain Garrett Michael Anjos, 32, a lifelong area resident, died suddenly on October 5, 2025.
Born on April 21, 1993 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Reinaldo Anjos and Susan (Seeger) Anjos. Garrett graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in 2011, received his bachelor's degree from Marist College in 2015, and his MBA from the American Military University in 2023.
Garrett proudly served our country in the US Army and was recently promoted to Captain in the US Army Reserves. Over the course of three tours in Europe - training in Lithuania, Poland, Germany and Ukraine - he exemplified leadership, courage, and camaraderie.
His dedication earned him numerous awards, including the American Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Overseas Service Ribbon.
As a young man of integrity and conviction, Garrett lived his life in service to others - through his military career, his faith, and his community. He was a member of the Calvary Chapel of the Hudson Valley, a member of the Town of Wappinger Republican Committee, and a former volunteer with the Rombout Fire Company.
Outside of his service, Garrett's passions were as wide-ranging as his curiosity. He enjoyed Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, working out, target shooting, history (especially war history), traveling, reading, video games, political debates, and enjoying the beach. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends, who he was always there for, without fail.
He approached everything he did with unmatched enthusiasm and humor. Those who knew Garrett will never forget his sharp wit, unforgettable impressions, and ability to light up any room. He had an incredible memory, often quoting entire scenes from his favorite movies - accent and all - leaving everyone doubled over with laughter. Garrett was one of one - fiercely unique, endlessly funny, and profoundly loved.
In addition to his parents, Garrett is also survived by his sister, Audrey Anjos-Klepper and her husband, Ryan Klepper; his grandmother, Anne Seeger; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1-4pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a funeral service and military honors beginning at 4pm.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Please visit his Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.

I´m saddened by your loss. Garrett and I worked side by side in Germany for over two years serving Warfighters. He is missed by Salk staff members he came in contact with. RIP Garrett. G33

My condolences to Reinaldo and Susan and all your family. I am heartbroken to have heard the news about Garrett. I only had the privilege of knowing Garrett just recently but something about him I could tell instantly that he was a good soul and was so easy to be friends with him. He was the kind of man any father would be proud to call his son. I´m praying for all of you for strength to get through this difficult time and that you find peace in the days ahead. I will miss him very much but it´s good to know that Garrett is now home at peace in God´s loving arms.
