Jamie Faas, 50, of Colchester, Vermont, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, at the University of Vermont Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones. His passing came after a courageous four-and-a-half-week battle to recover from a car accident on April 11, 2025.
Born on November 28, 1974, in Bennington, Vermont, Jamie was raised in Southern Vermont, where his love for adventure and speed quickly became defining traits. From a young age, he thrived in sports that pushed boundaries-skiing (he "skied like most people walk"), mountain biking (raced in the ESPN X Games), soccer, hang gliding, skydiving, and kiteboarding were among his many passions.
Jamie attended Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS) for high school and later earned his degree from Western State College in Colorado. He built a career as a project manager and design builder, applying the same energy, precision, and curiosity he brought to his hobbies. Jamie approached each project with grit and dedication. These hands-on skills and work ethic shaped his success managing residential builds and renovations with both vision and care.
Above all else, Jamie's greatest joy and deepest pride were his children, Carter and Addison. Whether skiing alongside them or cheering from the sidelines of a soccer field, he embraced every moment of fatherhood with love and enthusiasm. He delighted in creating experiences for his kids-turning their backyard into the ultimate adventure land, complete with a bike trail, trampoline, zip line, pool, soccer board, and fire pit. Every detail was thoughtfully designed for fun, challenge, and laughter.
Jamie is survived by his beloved children, Carter and Addison, and their mother, his former wife Julie Bucknell. He is also survived by his mother, Missey Sackett, and stepfather Richard Sackett; his stepmother Carol Faas; and his "second mom," Joanne Spidell. He leaves behind his brother David (Lori) Faas, sister Tamara McLaughlin, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was predeceased by his father, Jim Faas.
Jamie lived boldly and loved deeply with a fearless spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 1st from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the new Colchester Recreation Center, directly across from Colchester High School. All who knew and loved Jamie are welcome to attend.

So saddened to learn of Jamie's passing. He and Matt were such close childhood friends. Love the obit that noted Jamie's need for speed. I remember telling Missy "to get that kid in a ski racing program". Could never slow him down on the mountain! Thinking of you Missy, David & and David as you grieve.
