Jamie Josephine Griffith, age 50, returned to her heavenly home on January 7, 2026. As a family, we take great comfort in knowing that she passed peacefully and is now free from pain and suffering.

Jamie was born on June 20, 1975, in Payson, Utah. She was the 4th and youngest daughter of James H. and Penney L. Smith Griffith. She spent the early years of her childhood on the family farm in Genola, Utah where she loved chasing the baby goats and playing outside. Eventually, the family moved to Provo, Utah, where Jamie learned quickly how to clog dance. At just 7 years of age and along with her young partner, they won numerous clogging championships and entertained many with the speed and precision of their dancing. Jamie was kind, out-going, and friendly to all and because of this enjoyed her teen years participating as a cheerleader before graduating from Provo High school in 1993. Jamie went on to attend, graduate, and then, instruct at Paul Mitchell The School - Cosmetology and Beauty. She was a natural, talented teacher who had a great sense of humor and a gift for making others feel cared for and important.

She also instructed students at Dallas Roberts Academy of Hair Design and Aesthetics and enjoyed making a positive impact in the lives of others. In her own words, she said, “I love making new friends and helping people feel beautiful.”

Jamie also enjoyed watching movies, dancing, and listening to all kinds of music. She loved card games, especially Cribbage, and was a fierce competitor; anyone who played with her knew she never went easy. She also had a special admiration for elephants and kept a cherished collection of them.

Jamie's greatest joy in life occurred with the birth of her daughter, Maddie in 2001. She loved being a mother and planning holidays and themed birthday parties for her young daughter. Together they lived in Mapleton, Provo, and Orem. In 2014, Jamie moved to Rexburg, Idaho.

In Jamie's later years of life, she struggled with mental health issues and addiction which over time contributed to significant health challenges that ultimately led to her death. We would like to thank all those who showed her love and compassion during this time. A special thanks to Kat and her team at Wasatch Behavioral Health in Provo, Utah and the Rexburg 1st Ward.

Jamie is survived by her daughter, Maddie Griffith (John Beausheur), of Santaquin, Utah; sisters, Angie (LaVoy) Shepherd, Veyo, Utah; Wendy (Mark) Hullinger, Salt Lake City; Jennifer Griffith, Springville, Utah; aunts, Meri (Randall) Stoddard, Orem; Linda (Milo) Muhlestein, Spanish Fork; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her aunts, Pat Reckling, Zera Rees, & Jaci Tonkin.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the East Millcreek Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (3103 E Craig Drive, Salt Lake City). There will be a visitation on Wednesday prior to the services from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
