Jan J. Johnson, 68, Bismarck, passed away November 23, 2025. Cremation has taken place. Per Jan’s wishes, no services will be held.
Jan was born to Billie and Ada (Carpenter) Johnson on April 20, 1957 in Bismarck. She was raised and educated north of Sterling. She graduated from Mary College with a degree in social work. Jan spent 30 years working with adolescents, mostly in Burleigh County.
She enjoyed spending time outdoors. She grew up horseback riding and playing various sports. She loved to travel far and wide, including trips to Germany and Hawaii. Many of her travels were spent with friends as they went on new adventures together.
At age 27, Jan was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She battled this disease for 40 years. In the last four years, she resided at Baptist Health. The family would like to thank the staff for the wonderful care they gave to Jan.
Jan is survived by her mother, Ada Johnson; sister, Jill (Byron) Masalm; brothers, Jeff and Jim Johnson; and special friend, Scot Benz; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Billie Johnson; and sister, Jackie (Monty) Burke.
Despite facing health challenges throughout her life, she carried them with quiet dignity, never complaining about the cards she was dealt.
