A dazzling light was dimmed when Jan Ellen Lederman Ruderman passed away on December 31st. She was predeceased by her father, Dr. Alfred Lederman. She is survived by her mother, Geraldine Silver Lederman, and her brother, Rob Lederman (Kathi). She is also survived by her partner, best friend, and husband of 41 years, Tom Ruderman, her cherished children and their spouses, Matt Ruderman (Betsy) and Alyssa Hager (Ross), by her three beautiful grandchildren, Wil, Cora, and Milo, by two nieces and two nephews, and by close friends who became family.

Although she achieved professional success and impact as an executive at Hartford Healthcare, friends and family were her priorities. To know Jan was to love, respect, and admire her. Jan exuded warmth, kindness, compassion, and love. Her example inspired others to be better people, and her impact on others will be enduring.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rawad Elias for the compassionate and skilled care he provided and for truly caring about Jan as a person.

A celebration of Jan's life will be held on Sunday, January 7th at 2pm at Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation, 55 Bushy Hill Road, Simsbury, CT. Guests are encouraged to dress casually and comfortably. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Mazon, YMCA Camp Woodstock, or to the charity of your choice.

The family will receive guests at their home in Avon on January 8th and 9th from 7-9pm.

My sincerest condolences to the family of Jan. I knew Jan from VNA Healthcare.
Although we did not work together, she still would say hello to me when we would see each other in the hall in the ERC building at Hartford Hospital. She remembered me and that impressed me. She was a class act. May she rest in peace.

Jan was not only a coworker and friend, she was an amazing leader and mentor. My fondest memory will always be when I was healing from an unexpected surgery, she drove to my home with a beautiful care package and spent time with me to be sure I was doing well. She also guiding me through some difficulties I was facing and her advise I still carry to this day. Here genuine and sincere kindness and how she always seemed to be able to remain calm during the most chaotic of times is something she taught me as a leader. Her tenacity to conquer through all trails and tribulations with grace and grit is what I will miss most. I am so thankful for the beautiful memories we shared.
