Jan W. Shendow was more than just a name; he was a testament to a life well-lived, marked by his dedication to knowledge, reliability, loyalty and calmness, and a profound love for both his family and his cars. On January 20th, 2025, this extraordinary man passed away peacefully at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire the generations he nurtured.
Born on February 11,1943 Jan was raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. His early years were filled with curiosity and an insatiable desire to explore which drove him to join the United States Air Force at the age of 18. It didn't take long for his unique talents and passions to emerge, setting the stage for a life filled with remarkable achievements and unforgettable experiences.
But there was more to Jan than just the Air Force. He had a zest for life that extended far beyond the boundaries of his profession. One of his greatest passions was his Pantera, and his enthusiasm for this machine was nothing short of infectious. Countless weekends were spent driving and working on this amazing automobile.
While Jan's professional achievements were impressive, it was his role as a loving husband, father, and grandfather that truly defined him. For 42 years, he shared his life with his beloved wife, Lynda, forging a bond that's unbreakable. Together, they weathered life's ups and downs, nurturing a love that grew stronger with each passing year.
Jan and Lynda raised three wonderful children, Jake (Mick), Nathan (Linda) and Nelson (Alex). Their family was further enriched by the presence of ten grandchildren, Giovanni, Tino, Lucky, Cristiano, Leo, Biz, Adrianna, Jalen, Nikolai, and Marcelino. Jan's unwavering work ethic, his boundless love for his family, and his zest for life became the cornerstone of their lives. He was not just a provider but a source of inspiration, teaching them the values of dedication, resilience, and the importance of cherishing every moment.
As we reflect on the life of Jan, we are reminded of the beauty of a life lived with passion and purpose. He was not just a decorated Major in the Air Force; he was an automobile aficionado, a dedicated powerlifter, coach, teacher, family man, and a friend. His legacy is one of inspiration, a reminder that a life well-lived is marked not by the years we accumulate but by the moments we create and the lives we touch.
Jan Shendow, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, will forever be remembered and cherished in our hearts. His life was a testament to the power, his caring personality, and boundless love. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit lives on in the memories he created and the lives he enriched.
