Jana Karstetter, 77, of Stilwell Kansas, went home to Paradise on Monday, October 14, 2024.
Jana was born on September 8, 1947, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Eldon and Mable (Jeffries) Boyd. She was united in marriage to John Karstetter, who she adoringly called Johnny, on January 20, 1967.
She received a full-ride vocal music scholarship to Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. She lovingly gave up her scholarship to allow her husband to attend college early in their marriage where he received two degrees. Before moving to Olathe, Kansas in 1989, Jana owned a framing and sewing store called In Stitches, in Lawton for several years. She taught quilting classes and framed pictures. For 28 years, she worked at Olathe Medical Center in various administrative roles before retiring in 2020. While working for the Public Service Company of Oklahoma, Jana met a dear friend, Parlan Brady. Johnny, Jana, Parlan, and his wife Martha had many adventures together, including their epic skiing retreats to New Mexico.
Jana had many interests including photography, crafts, and home decorating. She adored her boys, loved her church, and enjoyed visiting with her many friends. She was an amazing cook, famous for her banana bread and chicken fried steak.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Mable Boyd, her brothers, Jeff Boyd and Joe Kirk Boyd, as well as her in-laws, Odell and John Karstetter, Sr.
Jana is survived by her husband of 57 years, Johnny Karstetter, her sons John “Brian” Karstetter (Kerry Boydstun) of Shawnee, KS and Jeremy (Kris) Karstetter of Leawood, KS.
