Jana "Jan" Dee (Knudson) Logan was born on February 18, 1946, to Kermit Christian and Bertha Alberta (Hase) Knudson in Colby, Kansas. She attended school in Colby and graduated from Colby High School.
Jan married Robert Logan on July 31, 1972, in North Platte, Nebraska. The couple made their home south of McCook where they raised their family, Jody, Rob, Aaron and Jared. They also farmed and ranched together, raising Jan's beloved Registered Angus Cattle. Jan worked for Macfee Veterinary Clinic, at Bill Graves Dental, and at Video Kingdom in McCook. After retirement, Jan became Bob's "right hand man". Whether they were calving, working cows and calves, building fence, or taking on the never-ending chore of spraying musk thistle, Jan was there for all of it - the hottest of summer days or the coldest deepest snows.
Jan was a member of the American Angus Association and active participant of the Red Willow County Fair Board. She enjoyed gardening and canning, creating amazing salsas, jellies and soups. Jan was a life longer reader. If she was not working she was reading books, often many at one time. She was also a wonderful quilter and loved to go fishing. If Jan had one gift that was greater than the rest, it would be her amazing ability to save the farm animals that she raised. She was an amazing caregiver to countless animals that she loved so very much.
Jan loved her time with her family, any time together was always special and fun. Her constant companion Banjo, her Yorkie, will be watching for her to come home everyday.
Jan passed away, surrounded by the people who loved her, Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska. She was 78 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Clayton Pierson; brother, Jon Knudson; brother-in-law, Kenny Kutz; niece, Karen Kutz; brother-in-law, Larry Siegfried; and sister-in-law, Sharla Logan.
