Jane A. Bartow, age 90, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Prairie Maison Nursing Home in Prairie du Chien. She was born on November 16, 1933, in Lancaster, the daughter of Ray and Dorothy (Treloar) Davies. Jane graduated from Platteville High School in 1951. After graduation, she worked as a waitress at Wittman’s Café in Lancaster. On January 19, 1952, she was united in marriage to Gerald Bartow. Eleven children were born to this union. Gerald passed away unexpectedly in 1974. Jane continued to raise her family as well as serve as a caretaker for local children in the community. She enjoyed embroidering, canning, and working in her vegetable garden. Jane was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children: Doug (Christine) Bartow, Montfort, WI; Debra (David) Fishler, Prairie du Chien, WI; Kristine (Adrian) Cerny, Spokane Valley, WA; Mark (Ellen) Bartow, Strum, WI; Gary Bartow, Council Bluffs, IA; Jennifer (Jim) Joyce, Denmark, WI; 24 grandchildren: Amy Hoeper, Sherri Seitz, Brandon Bartow, Stacy Christenson, Shane Bartow, Brooke Williams, Jerimy Fishler, Roby Fuller, Aaron Daily, Adrianna Cerny, Cassandra Cerny, Matt Bartow, Eric Bartow, Jacob Bartow, Floyd Bartow, Jr., Nick Ramsden, Carter Hocking, Danielle Bartow, Shayna Bartow, Miah Joyce, Macy Joyce, Spencer Joyce, Anya Joyce, and Alyx Joyce; 29 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and one on the way; son-in-law, Rick Daily, Lancaster, WI; daughter-in-law, Connie Bartow, Monroe, WI; sisters-in-law: Lois Davies, Platteville, WI; Sharon Barr, Fennimore, WI; Wanda Bartow, Ellenboro, WI; and Judy Evans, Lancaster, WI; brother-in-law, Elmer Ritter, Boscobel, WI; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband Gerald, Jane was preceded in death by her children: Dennis, Floyd, Shawn Bartow, Marcia Daily, and Rebecca Bartow; a grandson, Brock Joyce; her siblings: Patricia Ritter and Jim Davies.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church in Lancaster with Pastor David Kim officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with her care.
