Jane Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Armer Funeral Home, Inc. - Ballston Spa on Feb. 11, 2026.
Our family lost a very special woman when Jane Brown went home to be with Jesus on February 8, 2026. While we are sad to say goodbye, we know she is exactly where she longed to be - reunited with her husband, Robert, and in the presence of her Savior.

Jane was born on April 23, 1937, in Dolgeville, NY, to William and Ethel (Bishop) Haak. She grew up in upstate New York and eventually met the love of her life, Robert A. Brown, in Speculator, NY. They were married on August 26, 1956. Together they raised four children -Debbie (Kevin) Porter, David (Mary Jo) Brown, James (Patty) Brown, and Timothy (Cindy) Brown. Jane was a stay-at-home mom while the children were young, and you can tell by the way her children and grandchildren talk about her that she poured herself into her family. She worked at Johnsburg Central School and then became the secretary for Robert's business. She was "Grandma" to 10 grandchildren and "Great-Grandma" to 10 great-grandchildren. Jane is also survived by her two sisters, Betty Reynolds and Joan Morrison.

Jane loved hosting family gatherings with lots of food on the table, kids running around, card games, board games, and putting together puzzles. So many wonderful memories!

In her last years, Jane lived in a senior housing apartment on the 12th floor of her building. She loved the view from her windows during all of the seasons. She would often sit in her chair, Bible open on her lap, and spend time reading and talking to God. Jane's faith was quiet, steady, and real. Her family will miss her prayers, her gentle presence, and her heart of love.

Jane enjoyed walking. A lot. On warm days, she walked outside, and on cold days, she walked around the cafeteria and halls. Along the way, she met people, smiled at them, talked with them, and made friends. She was well liked in the building because she genuinely cared about people.

Her aide and friend, Margaret, was a very important part of Jane's later years. Margaret helped with housework, prepared meals, and more importantly, spent time with her.

Jane's family would like to offer their sincere appreciation for the excellent care she received while at Saratoga Hospital.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, February 17th from 10:00 am to Noon at the First Baptist Church, 202 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. A service will follow at Noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jane's memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa. Jane will be laid to rest with her husband Robert at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
