Of Berwyn Jane Anne "Mom-Mom" Coggins May 2, 1932 – August 2, 2025
Jane Anne Coggins (née Kelly), 93, of Berwyn passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, Jane was the daughter of John and Esther Kelly. She graduated from Ramsey Senior High School and earned a BA in Education from Indiana State Teachers College of Pennsylvania. She began her career as a third-grade teacher in Paoli, PA.
While waitressing one summer in Ocean City, NJ, Jane met the love of her life, Don Coggins. They married eight months later and raised four children together. Family became her life’s work, and she created a loving, faith-filled home. Later, she worked at Archbishop John Carroll High School and the Delaware County Intermediate Unit, supporting students through counseling.
Jane was a devoted caregiver, lovingly tending to both her father-in-law and her mother. Her happiest place was the family’s Ocean City home, where summers were filled with beach days, seafood dinners, and sandy shoes on the ride home before school started.
Her deep Catholic faith was central to her life. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and often reminded others, “I’m circling the beads for you.” Her quiet strength, sharp wit, and generous heart touched all who knew her.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary “Mimi” Kelly, and her daughter-in-law Irene Coggins.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, J. Donald Coggins; her beloved children: John Coggins (Adele), Patrick Coggins (Robyn), Timothy Coggins (Suzanne), and Kathleen Prominski (Peter); her 12 grandchildren: Sean (Sarah), Kate (Jordon), Daniel, Emma, Janie, Kelly (Shane), Kathleen (David), Timothy, Peter (Cristina), Matthew (Francesca), Thomas (Charlotte), and Luke; and 7 great-grandchildren: Connor, Carson, Casey, Margaret, Jack, Lucy, and Isabella.
Jane’s love, faith, and example will live on through her family and all who knew her.
