Jane Edwards Gillespie, 62, born on July 5, 1962, in Liberty, South Carolina, departed this life on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in Davidson, North Carolina. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her kindness and vibrant spirit.
Throughout her life, Jane was known for her profound love for her family. She shared a beautiful partnership of 40 years with her devoted husband, Russ Gillespie. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Jane was a dedicated mother to her three sons, Nathaniel, Zachary, and Joshua, who were proud to call her their mom. Her granddaughters, Brianna and Maisyn, held a special place in her heart, and their time spent together was filled with joy and warmth.
Jane's personality was as bright as her favorite color, pink, which she embraced wholeheartedly. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people and made friends easily wherever she went. Her warm demeanor and open heart fostered lasting relationships that enriched her life.
An avid gardener, Jane found great pleasure working in her yard and nurturing her beloved flowers. She also enjoyed traveling, particularly to Florida and visiting Disney World, where she created unforgettable memories with her family. As someone who loved dogs, her canine companions were a source of constant joy and comfort.
Over the last 15 years, Jane faced and bravely battled health issues with grace and dignity, demonstrating an inspiring resilience that touched all who knew her. Her strength in the face of adversity was a testament to her character and will be remembered fondly by those who were lucky enough to be a part of her life.
Jane is survived by her loving husband, Russ Gillespie; her sons, Nathaniel and wife Jessica Gillespie, Zachary and wife Danielle Gillespie, Joshua and wife Holly Gillespie; her granddaughters, Brianna and Maisyn Gillespie; her brother, Ernie Edwards; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stuart and Angie Gillespie; and her beloved canine companions. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles "Skeet" Edwards and Jean Hamlin Edwards; her mother and father-in-law, Jimmy and Faye Gillespie, as well as her sisters-in-law, Donna Springs and Cathy Stephens.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 11:00 am at Flat Rock Baptist Church in Liberty, SC. Another memorial service will be held on Monday, July 14 at 11:00 am at Davidson UMC in Davidson, NC.
As we remember Jane, we celebrate her life and the enduring love she shared. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends, who will carry her memory forward with gratitude and love.
