Jane Maher Obituary

Jane S Maher, 76 of Sunrise Beach, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by

family on Monday, December 8, 2025 after a difficult battle with cancer. She was born

December 3, 1949 in Hackensack, New Jersey. A daughter of the late Joseph W.

Maher III and Viola G.( Christen) Maher. On December 2, 2013 she was united in marriage to

William "Bill" A. Work who survives at their home in Sunrise Beach, Missouri.

In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by daughter Christen Lee of Yokosuka,

Japan and son Eric Hoy of Grant, Alabama; Six grandchildren: Stephen Harlin

Alexander Hoy (Alex), Ivey Hoy Clay, Meredith Emerald Lee-Caudill, Dominick (Nicky)

Joseph Lee, Evelyn Jane Lee and Andrew Orion Lee; two great-grandchildren; and her

dear brother Thomas E. Maher of Oklahoma. She was predeceased by her brother

Joseph Maher of Pennsylvania.

Jane retired from the financial services industry after 35 years of dedication. She was a

long-time member of the Virginia Federation of Business and Professional Women's

Organization (BPW), an organization in which she served as a State President and was

a strong advocate of equal pay for equal work during her years of service.

She had a deep love of liturgical and classical music and shared her talent by singing

with the Evansville Philharmonic Chorale for 15 years. After retiring to the Lake of the

Ozarks she continued to sing in the Greater Lake Area Chorale and Kent Memorial

Choir. After family and music came her love of animals. She leaves behind her beloved

pets: Shyster, Zoe, and Chloe the Cockatoo.

A celebration of life will take place at Kent Memorial Lutheran Church on December 20, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Jane would love if donations could be made in her memory

to Kent Memorial Lutheran Church or to the Greater Lake Area Chorale.
