Ronald E. Lacroix, 82, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Blanche (Carey) Lacroix, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family. Ronald was born in New Bedford, MA, on December 18, 1942, son of the late Lionel and Beatrice (Larocque) Lacroix.
Ronald grew up in South Windsor and was a graduate of Ellsworth High School. During high school he worked part time at Moores Lumber which ended up being his full-time career upon graduation.
Ronald joined the Army National Guard and served for six years.
Ronald worked for 61 years in the lumber industry as a General Manager for Moores to Grossmans to Boilard & Sons. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and the people he worked with.
Ronald was a former member of Sacred Heart Church in Vernon and was currently a parishioner of St. Junipero Serra Parish in South Windsor.
He enjoyed traveling, especially on cruses to Europe, Panama Canal, and the Caribbean. Ronald was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time caring for his yard. He enjoyed sports and was a faithful UConn Women's Basketball fan and avid NY Yankees fan. Above everything else, Ronald was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He showed his love every day! Anyone who knew Ronald is easily able to share a story of his kindness, generosity, and love. Ronald will be remembered fondly for his expert word smithing talent.
Along with his wife of over 50 years, Blanche, he leaves his son, Knud D. Hansen of Brookhaven, PA, and his daughter, Thora E. Cowperthwaite of Vernon and her boyfriend Thomas Martucci of Ellington, his grandchildren Patrick Cowperthwaite and his wife Caitlin of Tolland, Kirsten Hansen of PA, his brother, Raymond Lacroix and his wife Katherine of Sunrise Beach, MO, and a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul Lacroix and Roland Lacroix.
