Shirley Woble Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home on Dec. 8, 2025.
Shirley (Petraitis) Woble, 89 of Windsor, wife of over 64 years to the late Thomas P. Woble, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
Born September 15, 1936, daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Shabot) Petraitis, Shirley grew up in South Windsor on Sullivan Avenue where she graduated from Ellsworth High School Class of 1954.
As a child, she took local art lessons with the emphasis on drawing, pastels, and watercolors. With time, she applied these skills into annual Christmas cards that friends and family would receive.
Shirley also created original crocheted children's toys, Christmas ornaments, and dollies that she sold in local annual craft fairs. In later years, she would donate works of crocheted toys, blankets, and hats to the CT Children's Medical Center. Volunteering at St. Joseph's Residence of Enfield's arts and crafts department, her painted ceramics were sold in their gift shop. Always challenging herself, she learned rug hooking, English smocking, candlewicking and other needlework crafts.
Beyond arts and crafts, Shirley loved going with friends to the theater, especially The CT Repertory Theater at Storrs and exploring antiques shows on the east coast.
She leaves her sons, TJ Woble of Rockville, and Douglas Woble and his wife Heather of Colchester, and her grandchildren Joseph, Patrick, and Sean Woble. She was predeceased by her son, David Woble.
Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 10 - 11 a.m., a prayer service will follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Shirley's memory to The Windsor Food and Fuel Bank, P.O. Box 854 Windsor, CT 06095.

I often think of the times I learned sewing from Shirley who lived next door to us on Rood Avenue in Windsor. She was patient and a special person. I´m so sorry for your family´s loss as she was a good person. I have fond memories of TJ, David and Doug as kids. She will always be with you.
Fondly, Carol Weeks Stanley

TJ, I am Praying that Our Gracious Lord will keep you in perfect peace during this difficult time and always. Thank you for being such an amazing Caregiver to your dear mom. Ms. Shirley was a wonderful neighbor and always opened the door for my Trinitee and Christian when their bus arrived early. She'll be missed.
