Virginia W. Stephens, 102, beloved wife of the late Leslie H. Stephens, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Born July 27, 1923, in Stony Creek, NY, daughter to the late Lester and Gertrude (Mosher) White. Virginia dedicated her life to serving the Lord and teaching children the Word of God. She graduated in 1944 from Practical Bible Training School in Bible School Park, NY. After college she worked in the American Sunday School Union and Child Evangelism Fellowship where she assisted the implementation of children's Bible clubs and Sunday schools in churches in New York and Pennsylvania. She was a charter member of both Calvary Baptist Church in Windsor Locks, CT, and Bethany Baptist Church in Broad Brook, CT. There, she served for more than 50 years teaching and training leaders in children's Sunday school, junior church, and vacation Bible school. In honor of her 100th birthday, she was awarded a certificate from Child Evangelism Fellowship of the Empire State for her years of service pioneering children's ministries. That same year she was interviewed by Practical Bible College (now Davis College) for their school website, being their oldest living graduate. Virginia is survived by two sons, Dean Stephens and his wife, Sharon of Aurora, CO, Kurt Stephens and his wife, Linda of Suffield, CT; a daughter-in-law, Virginia G. Stephens of Stafford Springs, CT; eight grandchildren, Tanya McKeen and her husband (Jeremy), Candace Stephens, Rae Boyd and her husband (Willie), Brendan Stephens and his wife (Jackie), Colleen Stephens, Kyle Stephens, Erica Stephens, Shannon Reese and her husband (Tyler); six great-grandchildren and two on the way, Harrison McKeen, Zelda McKeen, Kaylee Stephens, Ryan Stephens, Tova McKeen, and Trenton Stephens. Burial will be in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Windsor, beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 278 North Road, Broad Brook, CT, 06016. Yesterday

My heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Virginia Stephen's in her passing. I have many fond memories of assisting her in Jr. Church & Vacation Bible School at Calvary Baptist Church. I also had the pleasure of babysitting her boys on occasion.
You will be in my thoughts & prayers at this time.
