Natalie Das Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home on Dec. 9, 2025.
Natalie Ann Das, 89, of Agawam, MA, and formerly of Suffield, CT, beloved wife of Peter Das, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA
Born September 12, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA the only child of the late Peter and Natalie (Huffert) Pfeiffer, Natalie grew up in some of the many towns her father served as a Baptist minister: Waco, TX., Union Grove, WI., Burlington, IA, and Erie, PA. After attending Keuka College in New York, Natalie worked for a year in London before returning to the United States.
Married in 1963, she and Peter moved to Germany in 1965 for a six-month assignment that eventually stretched to seven years -- an experience made richer by regular trips, rich meals and deep friendships, many of which would endure the rest of her life. She and Peter returned to America, again, in 1972, now with two boys, two cars and an enormous St. Bernard. A daughter arrived a year later, and then a move to Suffield, her home from 1976 to 2022, soon after that.
Natalie was an active volunteer, an eager traveler and a lover of any dog she met. After retiring following 16 years as an administrative assistant at CIGNA, she devoted herself to her family, her flowers, her many friends and especially to her grandchildren, who never saw an important milestone pass without an encouraging note from Nana and a rousing serenade of "Happy Birthday" via phone once a year.
Besides Peter, her husband of 62 years, she is survived by her three children: Peter A. Das and his wife, Angela, of Corpus Christi, TX.; Andrew Das and his wife, Susannah, of Stratford, CT.; and Cristina Alsum and her husband, Will, of Loveland, CO. She also leaves seven grandchildren: Christopher Das (Lindsey) and Abby McCready (Phil); Timothy, William and Caroline Das; and Natalie and Sarah Alsum; as well as six great grandchildren: Riley, Chase, Noah, Lucas, Dakota and Remi-Lynn. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lily Elisabeth Das.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 100 North Main St., Suffield, CT In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made through World Vision or any local charity focused on what she saw as the vital mission of feeding hungry children.
