Barbara A. (Coleman) Conroy, 82, of South Windsor, beloved wife of the late Michael D. Conroy, Sr., died peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at The Residence in South Windsor, surrounded by her family. Barbara was born on May 22, 1943, in Boston, MA, one of three children, and daughter of the late George and Gertrude (Anderson) Coleman.
She grew up in Jamaica Plain, Boston, MA and was a graduate of Hull High School in Hull, MA. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Charter Oak College. Barbara met and married the love of her life, Michael D. Conroy on August 12, 1967, and together they settled in South Windsor. She worked for many years as a substitute teacher with the South Windsor Public Schools.
Barabara was a woman of strong faith and an active parishioner at St. Junipero Serra Parish, St. Margaret March Church in South Windsor. She was active in the community, volunteering with the Community Services Group and with the library.
A kind, caring, loving, and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many she will be dearly missed.
She leaves her son, Michael D. Conroy, Jr. and his wife Trisha of Enfield, her grandchildren, Brooke Conroy and her Fiancé Preston Forbes of Enfield, and Michael D. Conroy III of Enfield, her sisters, Grace Vani of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Patricia Barrett and her husband Fred of Clearwater, FL, and other extended family member and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, George Coleman, and her sister Jean Kimmel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 15, 2025, 11 a.m., meeting directly at St. Junipero Serra Parish, St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor. A private family burial in Wapping Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South Windsor Food and Fuel Bank c/o South Windsor Community Center.
