Jane C. Parker Carpenter

Jane Carolyn Parker Carpenter, 94, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, with loving family by her side.
Born on September 28, 1931, in Waterbury, CT, Jane grew up in the idyllic small town of New Milford where she enjoyed singing in the church choir, the beloved daughter of the late Theodore Curtis Parker and Marion Ransom Parker. Driven to find success in life, Jane enthusiastically pursued an education and earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut and a master's degree from Laval University in Quebec, Canada. Jane built a career teaching French and Spanish, first at her beloved Juniata College in Pennsylvania, and eventually retiring from the University of Connecticut in 1980.
Following her retirement from teaching, Jane moved to Southern California where she worked in various office roles. There she met and married Clyde C. Carpenter, with whom she shared many wonderful adventures. In 1989, the couple purchased a boat and traveled extensively throughout Europe, navigating the rivers, canals, and the Mediterranean. They returned to the U.S. in 1993 and settled in Leisure World, Laguna Woods, CA. After Clyde's passing in 2004, Jane eventually relocated to Connecticut, settling at the Duncaster Retirement Community in Bloomfield in 2008.
Jane was an avid painter, often drawing inspiration from her global travels. Her love of reading was evident in her extensive personal library, and she took great pride in her collection, especially books on art and history. She adored her cat, Katherine ("Kitty"), and cherished her friendships, particularly with her dear college friend Charlene and husband, Don. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Jane is survived by a daughter, Renée Louise Gauvin; a son Pierre Eric Gauvin; granddaughters, Megan Carolyn Dinning Ordaz, Debra Rose Harkins, Lauren Nanami Gauvin; grandsons, Scott Malcolm Dinning, Francisco Jose Ordaz (in-law); great granddaughter, Shelby Amelia Ordaz; nephews, Sean Allingham and Kevin Allingham; niece, Heather Moch. Predeceased by her husband, Clyde C. Carpenter; daughter, Marie Danielle Gauvin; father, Theodor Parker; mother, Marion Parker; sister, Sally-Anne Allingham; brother, Richard Sherman Parker.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, 11:00AM at Simsbury Cemetery, 16 Plank Road, Simsbury, CT 06070.
