With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Timothy S. Zeuschner. Born on September 24, 1964, in Warrensburg, Missouri, Tim grew up in Windsor before moving to West Hartford. Tim passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly. He was 61 years old.
For more than 40 years, Tim dedicated his life to education. He inspired generations of students as a teacher, coach, and mentor. His commitment to helping others reach their full potential extended far beyond the classroom and playing field. Whether he was coaching at the youth or high school level or offering guidance to a colleague, Tim always led with kindness, patience, and genuine care.
A lover of history, reading, movies, and television, Tim was a wealth of knowledge, ready to impart wisdom on anyone who asked. He especially shared this love with his family, by ensuring every family vacation had a built-in history lesson. From summers in Plymouth, trips to Williamsburg, Arizona, Florida, Michigan, and Las Vegas (to name a few), Tim was constantly educating, making learning fun for his children, and creating memories his family will forever cherish.
As a lifelong sports fan, Tim was passionate about his teams. He was a devoted supporter of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and UConn Huskies. Nothing made him happier than spending a Sunday afternoon watching football or an evening cheering on the Red Sox, often sharing texts and laughs with his friends and children throughout the game. He was also an avid golfer, often playing 18 holes multiple days a week. He enjoyed trips to the PGA Championship, Ryder Cup, and The Travelers Championship, along with many golf vacations with family and friends in North Carolina.
Tim was known for his generosity and good humor, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was kind to everyone he met, universally loved and admired for his warmth, integrity, and quick wit. Ever thoughtful and always up for a spirited debate, Tim had a way of making every conversation meaningful. Tim carried his generosity into his final days, donating organs to help save those in need.
Tim is survived by his wife, Michelle, daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Zeuschner and David Mullany, son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Rin Zeuschner, sister and brother-in-law, Jodi and Charlie Jones, niece, Rachael Elam, nephew, Corey Jones, great-nieces Isabelle, Audrey, and Ella Elam, his in-laws, Robert and Patricia Shapiro, and his dog, Cal. He joins his parents, Harry and Ruth Zeuschner and his sister, Erin Zeuschner.
His family would like to extend their gratitude to the cardiology and ICU teams at Hartford Hospital for the exceptional care they provided Tim.
Tim's family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 3:00PM-7:00PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon, CT 06001. A celebration of Tim's life will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, 10:00AM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon, CT 06001, followed by burial at Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon, CT. The Zeuschner family will sit Shiva at their home in West Hartford on November 12, 2025, from 4:00PM-8:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to South Windsor Dollars for Scholars, P.O. Box 197, South Windsor, CT 06074 or https://www.pledge.to/SWDFS for a scholarship that will be established in his memory.
