Jane McMinn Peek, 87, of Fletcher, NC, went home with Jesus on Friday, August 22, 2025, she was at her house on Concord Road with her family.
Jane was born at home on St. John Road in Fletcher, NC on December 8, 1937, to the late Thelma Praytor McMinn and Vernon McMinn. She was a member of Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Her greatest joy and accomplishment were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was the best Mom and Mamaw. Jane was voted most dependable in her graduating class of 1955; and she proved that every day taking care of all her family. She always put us first and herself last. But above all, was Jesus. She read her Bible and prayed every day for all of us.
Jane and Junior operated Peek's Sawmill. She was meticulous with numbers and organization. She loved flowers and gardening like her mother, Thelma. She had many trials in her life but always trusted in Jesus. Jane will be missed so much by all of us here, but we know that she is waiting for us in Heaven where she is healed and happy with Jesus, her Mama, and her loved ones who passed before her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon McMinn Jr., and Walter "Buddy" McMinn; brothers-in-law, Eugene Baker, Jim Jones, Eugene Peek, Doug Peek, Bob Peek, Bill McCurry, and Ned Bradley; and best friend Estee Rice, who made the shawl she is wearing.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 70 years, Ben Peek, Jr.; daughter,Kim Kay; sons, Brian Kay, Tony Peek, and Randy Peek; sisters, Ruth Baker, Phyllis Whitaker (Ted), Patsy Jones, Camie Robles (Roberto), and Martha Dietz (Don); brother, Calvin McMinn (Marie); sisters-in-law Judy McCurry and Kay Bradley; brother-in-law Leonard Peek; eight grandchildren, McKenzie Owenby (Wayne) and their children, Moriah and Chisum, Miranda Peek, Megan Peek, Josie and Ryan Mollette and their daughter, Margot, Wyatt Kay, Jessa Kay, Wiley Kay, and her namesake, Janie Belle Kay.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 12:00 to 1:00pm at Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Her Heavenly Homecoming service will immediately follow at the church with Rev. Willard Pruitt officiating and Rev. Mike Reeves and Lori Reeves singing. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
