Thad Garrison Obituary
Publish in a newspaper
Thad was born on February 9, 1947 in Buncombe County to the late Ernest and Beulah Garrison. Thad was a graduate of Owen High School and member of Broad River Volunteer Fire Department. He served in the US Army and Army Reserves during the Vietnam War where he received a purple heart and Desert Storm. During his life, he worked many maintenance jobs in the area. Thad will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Hattie Louise Garrison and Martha Ann Reagan; and brothers, George M. Garrison, Ned H. Garrison, and William "Bill" Garrison.
Those left to cherish his memories are his sisters, Earline Owenby and Rowena Rodgers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00pm in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at 3:00pm at the funeral home. The burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. We had the opportunity to meet Thad at the Montreat soccer and basketball games. He took the time to get to know the players and was a vocal advocate at the games! Always cheering for his team! He will be missed!
