Jerry Harold Rhymer, 85, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at his home in Asheville, North Carolina, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born on October 10, 1939, in Swannanoa, NC, Jerry was the son of the late James Raymond and Fannie Grace Gosnell Rhymer. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Larry Rhymer, and his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary Juanita Price Rhymer, who passed away on May 12, 2010.
Jerry is survived by his son, Richie (Jackie) Rhymer; daughters, Cindy (Greg) Moore, Marsha Rhymer (Cindy Klein), and Jennifer (Eric) Wilkes. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Ashley and Austin, Carly and Courtney, and Haleigh and Madison. He also leaves behind eight cherished great-grandchildren: Jackson and Finley, Ava, Audrie, Frankie, Gray, Adeline, and Lilly.
A graduate of Owen High School, Jerry worked for NCI as a machinist for most of his life. He had a deep love for his family and a lifelong passion for sports. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball with his children and later found joy in card games and golf. He especially loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up and play sports.
Jerry was known as the sweetest daddy and the one and only best "GrandJerry." His warmth, humor, and love will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, at 11:30 AM at Mountain View Memorial Park, Black Mountain, NC. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Jerry, please visit our floral store.
