Jane Philbeck Shaw, 88, of Columbia, Maryland, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, in the comfort of her home, after a week surrounded by her loved ones.
Jane was born to Robert Hoyle Philbeck and Ruby Glawe Philbeck in Missouri on May 3, 1936. Jane graduated from Washington Lee High School in June of 1954. She graduated from American University with a bachelor's degree, which led to a long career as a contract specialist in the federal government. Jane married Mark Putnam Shaw on August 8, 2006. They shared a wonderful, fulfilling life together in Hanover, Pennsylvania, and Columbia, Maryland. Their time was enriched by the company of family and friends, as well as their shared love for playing bridge.
Jane is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Mark, and her children, Gene "Mark" Santucci, Donna Shatzer (Eric Shatzer), and Christopher "Chris" Santucci (Sally Santucci). Her eleven grandchildren- Morgan Vekeman, Andrew Vekeman, Blake Potter, Shelby Pinter, Christy Santucci, Cole Mihalik, Aiden Mihalik, Stephanie Mihalik, Gemma Santucci, Logan Shatzer, and Ethan Shatzer. Along with seven great grandchildren- Caleb, Asher, Jane, Nikolas, Bennett, Hudson, Alesandra, and a baby girl on the way.
Jane is now reunited with those who went before her, including her parents, little sister, Susan "Susie", and nephew David.
In place of a service, the family will be celebrating her life privately. They ask that in lieu of flowers, you donate to a charity of your choosing in her honor.
Jane was a light to all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will live on in the hearts of her loved ones, who will remember her most for her kind, gentle, selfless spirit.
