Jane Marie Teachworth (nee Krocka), 80, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away on September 26, 2025, at Ecumen Lakeshore, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with glioblastoma multiforme. A devoted mom, nana, sister, and friend, Jane will be remembered most for her kindness and the gentle way she made others feel seen, welcomed, and cared for.
Born on January 8, 1945, in Duluth to Leona and Frank Krocka, Jane spent her entire life in the city she loved. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1963. She met her late husband Wayne at the Curling Club roller rink, and they married in 1966. Jane worked at North Shore Bank for 20 years. A woman of quiet strength and open-hearted generosity, Jane built her home around faith and family.
Jane found joy in working with her hands and heart. As a lifelong crafter, she would quilt, knit and crochet gifts that kept loved ones warm and connected long after the wrapping paper was gone. She loved gardening, reading, and spending time with her card friends playing Hand and Foot. She also loved the outdoors, going camping, fishing, and four wheeling. Nothing delighted her more than cheering from the bleachers at all of her grandchildren's sporting events, with pride sparkling in her eyes.
Faith and service guided Jane’s days. She gave her time and talents to St Michael's Church where she volunteered, and to Meals on Wheels, extending her kindness to neighbors in need.
Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne Arthur Teachworth Jr.; her sister, Judith Jerde; her brothers, Roger Krocka and Michael Krocka; and her parents, Leona and Frank Krocka. She is survived by her children, Jean (Daniel) Holbeck, Kimberly (Patrick) Shelton, and Wayne (Dawn) Teachworth; her sister, Peggy Peterson; her brother, Jim Krocka; her grandchildren, Brianna (Tim) Crossmon, Madalyn (Tim) Pehoski, Heidi (Mark) Lisic, Emma and Samantha Shelton, Dillon and Jack Teachworth; and her great-grandchildren Benjamin, Oliver, and Waylon.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. 2nd Street, Duluth. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, October 3rd at St Michael's Church, 4901 E. Superior Street, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers are Dillon and Jack Teachworth, Emma and Samantha Shelton, Tim Crossmon, Tim Pehoski, and Mark Lisic.
The family would like to thank the Ecumen Lakeshore staff and Ecumen Hospice for the wonderful care provided. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to honor Jane by donating to the Glioblastoma Research Foundation.
